Why live in Hayling Island?

Hayling Island is a delightful 12-square mile area of land that’s completely surrounded by the sea and can only be accessed by the road bridge from Langstone. It’s is an absolute mecca for watersports – windsurfing was invented here and we have miles of glorious, safe beaches that are made for seaside activities, including sailing, power boating, jet skiing and beach volleyball.

Beachlands beach has received the international Blue Flag award every year for the past 25 years and is the perfect spot to while away the hours looking over the Solent with a fish and chip supper.

We’re well served by shops across the island’s three main villages of Mengham, West Town and Eastoke Corner and have five schools on the Island, including infant, junior and secondary schools. There’s plenty to keep the children busy outside school hours too with the Funland Amusement Park at Beachlands, the Hayling Seaside Railway that runs from Beachlands to Eastoke Corner and the adiZone Outdoor Gym at Eastoke that has all kinds of free equipment for youngsters to use.

There are two pay and play golf courses here and, at the Seacourt Tennis Club, members can play real tennis on one of the few remaining real tennis courts in the world. You’ll also find a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and takeaways, including the award winning Brasserie Restaurant in the Langstone Hotel.
