Chichester apprentice achieves career milestone
Chichester planning & development assistant Chris Locke has graduated from Chichester College following a two-year Apprenticeship in Town Planning with us here at Henry Adams.
The Town Planning Apprenticeship Scheme was developed by the Royal Town Planning Insititute (RTPI) and the Construction Industry Council as a work-based training programme and has become increasingly popular with both employers and apprentices.
The course is designed to provide technical knowledge combined with practical experience in the workplace, and equips apprentices for a structured career path.
Chris Locke joined Henry Adams land & planning department as an apprentice in September 2016 for long term career prospects and has now accepted a permanent role with the property consultancy and estate agency.
“I was keen to join a good company within the industry and it’s been a very busy two years,” said Chris. "The course has been challenging at times and I’ve learnt a huge amount of technical information but more importantly, I’ve seen how to apply it in action.
“I’m delighted to be graduating and I’d also like to thank the lecturers at Chichester College, my fellow apprentices and of course everyone in the land & planning division of Henry Adams for all their support and encouragement along the way.”
At Henry Adams we provide professional advice for clients on their individual planning proposals for commercial, residential and agricultural development. Our professional team also submits planning applications, pursues appeals and advises on enforcement issues on sites throughout Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire from our head office in Chichester.
Peter Cleveland, Chartered Town Planner and head of planning at Henry Adams, said, “Since Chris joined us two years ago he has worked extremely hard, both in his role with Henry Adams and his studies. We have seen him grow in ability, knowledge and practical application to become a valued member of the team and we’re extremely proud of his achievement which is thoroughly deserved.”
The graduation ceremony was held at Chichester College on 4 September, with representatives from the RTPI, including Peter Cleveland, attending to speak at the event.
“It was an honour to join the graduates as they celebrated this milestone,” said Peter. “Congratulations to each of them, and welcome to a great career in land & planning!”
