In praise of our National Park
This week is National Parks Awareness Week (Monday 24 to Sunday 30 July), the perfect time to recognise just how lucky we are to have the South Downs National Park (SDNP) on the doorstep.
There are fifteen National Parks across the UK including Dartmoor, the Yorkshire Dales and the Brecon Beacons and events are planned throughout the week. Here in the South Downs, rangers will be visiting towns around Sussex and Hampshire to bring some free family fun from the countryside into the heart of town.
The SDNP stretches from Winchester almost to Eastbourne, covering 1,600km2 of southern England including rolling hills and gorgeous villages and towns.
Homes in the National Park are highly prized. According to the Lloyds Bank National Parks Review at the end of last year, the average house price within the South Downs National Park rose by 45% during the 10 years from 2006 to 2016, the highest rise across all national parks. The average price in the SDNP was reported at £497,284, with only the New Forest higher at £577,979.
Demand remains positive as homebuyers are keen to enjoy this beautiful environment with its attractive towns and villages, yet still within easy reach of London and the coast.
Downsizing to the area and holiday homes are popular but there’s so much to do outdoors in the Park that the area appeals to a wide range of buyers keen to make the most of everything the area has to offer.
Whether your home is within the national park or on the fringes, take some time out this weekend to go and explore it further. And if you’re thinking of buying or selling your home in the area, just get in touch and talk to any of our staff.
There are no less than six Henry Adams offices selling properties within the South Downs National Park, including Midhurst where you’ll also find the South Downs Centre.
We’ve got the local expertise to make sure you get excellent value - both in selling your home and through the services we offer.
And we love this area just as much as you do!
