Grand Designs 2017: Rose Green Infant School, Bognor Regis
A fantastic prize giving assembly at Rose Green Infant School saw children in Year 1 proudly displaying their rooms in a shoe box as part of their exciting topic 'Grand Designs 2017'. Over 80 parents & grandparents came to see their children's wonderful work and celebrate the amazing achievement of all 90 children who had taken part.
Last month staff at Henry Adams and Rita Sen had set the children the challenge of thinking carefully about a dream room that they would like to create in a shoe box. The choice of room and design was left entirely in the children’s hands, and using only reclaimed materials, they had to decorate and furnish their creative abode.
Gail Chisham and Dee Tickner from Henry Adams Bognor & Aldwick, alongside Stephen Sampson from Rita Sen, had the very tough task of choosing only 3 winners and 3 runners up per class who had displayed exceptional effort and creative flair. The over all standard of rooms was exceptional, every child was rewarded for their effort with a pencil kindly provided by Rita Sen and a certificate of thanks for taking part. Gail comments, "We were amazed at the standard of work created, it's wonderful to see children imaginatively recycling materials such as cotton reels, yoghurt pots, carpet and fabric." Stephen adds, "There was a real atmosphere of celebration during the prize giving; children, parents and staff were quite rightly very proud of their achievements and it was a privilege for Rita Sen and Henry Adams to be invited."
