New friendships begin in new homes
When Anne Robson moved from Brighton to her new home at Bonham’s Field in Yapton, the location and the property suited her perfectly. What was less certain was how easy it would be to settle in.
Happily Anne has already made new friends who’ve also chosen to move to Bonham’s Field, marking the start of a new and welcoming community.
“When I met my neighbour, Pat, who moved in a month before me, I had a feeling that we would get on well,” said Anne. “It’s also meant that we are already feeling the sense of community that I was so looking forward to. I'm sure this will only increase as other new owners move in and we all get to know each other.”
Anne had moved to Yapton to be nearer family, especially her five granddaughters. She has mild ME/chronic fatigue syndrome which made travelling from Brighton difficult. Having grown up in rural surroundings, village life was also very appealing.
She put her flat on the market and started searching for her perfect place. It was then that Anne then discovered Bonham’s Field, a unique collection of 56 new 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes by Chichester-based housebuilder, Seaward Homes.
Anne said, “I was attracted to The Courtyard at Bonhams Field because it offered single-storey dwelling but not the old-fashioned bungalow style. After 15 years of living in flats, it really appealed to me to live in a cottage. The Courtyard cottages were set apart, tucked away at the edge of the development, with the promise of quietness and a community feel.”
Reserving her home off plan was a new experience, so Anne carefully reviewed all the plans. She could see that Bonham’s Field would be an attractive mixed development, rather than one with rows of similar-looking homes.
“It was also clear from the property plans that the rooms were good sizes and well laid out.,” she added. “When I was able to visit the site, I was surprised and delighted with the size of the garden and the high standard of build of the cottage.
“I am now really enjoying my new home: the rooms are a great size and the high ceilings make it feel really spacious - and I love the unusually large storage cupboard in the hall! It's wonderful to have such a big garden and I'm looking forward to attracting the birds with new trees soon.”
Caroline Crosby welcomed Anne to the Marketing Suite and Show Home at Bonham’s Field, which is open from 10am to 5pm from Thursday to Monday (01243 790581).
The barn-style homes in The Courtyard are currently available through Henry Adams Simply New Homes with prices from £365,000 for a 2-bedroom single-storey cottage with allocated parking.
“Yapton is a great village with a good community feel, near to lovely countryside: I love the 10-minute drive to beautiful Arundel along the country roads! It also has great connections further afield by bus and train. But most of all, I love the peace and quiet at Bonham’s Field. It’s such a bonus, with my health not being great. Birdsong is all I hear, and I love it!'
