Abolishment of Section 21?
The Government announced on 15th April 2019 that they would consult on how to abolish Section 21 or how it is commonly known 'no-fault eviction'.
Similar measures were introduced in Scotland in 2017 and Landlords will still be able to retain possession of the property where they wish to sell or move back in or it the tenant is in default of the tenancy agreement.
This is a much softer approach than some expected the Government to take with the previously proposed minimum 3 year tenancy now possibly off the table.
We will keep our clients up to date as this consultation progresses and as ever ensure we modernise ourselves to thrive for our clients in changing times.
