Rose Green children plan their grand designs

Wouldn’t it be great to design your own dream room from scratch?  That’s what we’ve asked Year 1 children at Rose Green Infant School to do this spring in our Grand Designs competition.

Gail Chisham, partner at Henry Adams for Bognor & Aldwick, and Dee Tickner, our community liaison officer, visited the school this week to launch the project.

“We’ve been involved with your Grand Designs topic for eight years now and we really enjoy coming to see you” Gail told the children, “We can’t wait to see all your grand plans this year.”

The children were asked to think carefully about their choice of design for creating a room in a shoe box, and how they could furnish it using only reclaimed, recycled and reused materials. There were some fantastic ideas shared as children suggested plans for attic conversions and garden rooms.

Mrs Bennett, Year 1 teacher at Rose Green Infant School, explained to the children, “You will be planning your rooms later this week and after half term your parents will be invited to our ‘stay and make’ morning as part of ‘Creative Week’.”

Trophies and medals will be awarded by Gail for children who have displayed creative flair and exceptional effort and every child taking part will receive a ‘thank you’ certificate.

From all of us here at Henry Adams, good luck with your dream room designs, Year 1. We hope you have lots of fun and we're looking forward to seeing all your Grand Designs!
