Peter Cleveland appointed as Head of Planning
Peter Cleveland has been appointed as Head of Planning and takes up the reins with immediate effect, working closely with our successful land team led by David Adams and Martin Curry.
“I’d always felt Henry Adams is a good company having known them from when I was the senior planner at Arun District Council,” said Peter. “I’d had an eye on moving to a progressive land and development team so when I saw the opportunity come up, it was the perfect fit and great timing.”
David Adams, Partner and Head of Land and Planning, said, “This is an important strategic appointment for the firm at a time when business activity has been at its highest for a number of years and I am particularly pleased we have got someone of Peter’s calibre and experience joining us”.
Peter’s career began through the graduate programme at Arun District Council where he undertook his Masters before rising through the ranks, handling major planning applications for larger scale residential schemes and strategic development.
During this period the South Downs became a designated National Park, so Peter has an in-depth knowledge of landscape planning matters which will be particularly beneficial for many of our agricultural clients.
Peter subsequently moved to Waverley Borough Council, near Guildford, where he moved up quickly to become major project officer and development control manager. He was responsible for the development control team, including compliance, and worked closely with the Policy team, notably bringing together infrastructure delivery across three sites totalling 700 units to form part of the strategic allocation and Dunsfold Park, which proposes the delivery of a new garden village on a former airfield.
Peter and his wife live near the coast in West Sussex, close to where he was born & brought up, and he has been an active player for Worthing Rugby Club for many years.
