Bookmarks for World Book Day!
The children at St
Mary’s CE Primary School in Pulborough partook in a Bookmark Designing
Competition with Henry Adams, Storrington in celebration of World Book Day on 2nd
March.
Using any
materials they wished the children were asked to design and make a bookmark.
The infant children were asked to draw their favourite book character while the
juniors had the choice of either recommending their favourite book or author or
extolling the merits of avid reading, encouraging their peers to pick up a book
and read, read, read; designs were to be colourful and eye catching with a
little bit of imagination too, ‘try to be a bit different’ was the message
given!
Hattie Coates
partner from our office in Storrington and Dee Tickner our Community Liaison
Coordinator were delighted to attend a school assembly to present the winning
children with their prizes of a book and a Henry Adams rosette, while every
child who took part was awarded a certificate of thanks from Henry Adams.
Hattie adds, “We
were amazed to discover that 189 children had taken part in our competition, the
results were very creative, we had a great time looking through all the
bookmarks and choosing the winners. We’d like to say a huge ’thank you’ from
Henry Adams to all the talented children in St Mary’s School for taking part
with such enthusiasm.”
