School Pupils Design Homes for Penguins
Children
at local infant, junior and primary schools have been designing homes for two
cuddly penguins, Iggy & Louie.
The children at East Wittering Community School, Medmerry and Jessie Younghusband in Chichester were all challenged to use the power of their imaginations to create a perfect home for the penguins, as part of a competition with Henry Adams.
The challenge tied in with Penguin Awareness Day when children at Jessie Younghusband spent the time learning more about penguins, their habitats and trying to understand how human activity may be affecting them in terms of ice caps melting and food shortages. The two winning designers in each school received a toy penguin and a runner-up in each year group received chocolate penguin lollies kindly provided by Dawn Shrives of Le Salon Du Chocolat, Chichester.
With many local schools joining in
the challenge, more than 800 designs were created for Iggy & Louie.
