Rose Green’s Views and News from junior reporters
Budding
journalists were out in force from Year 4 at Rose Green
Junior School this month.
We were delighted to launch and sponsor a competition where each child was
challenged to compile their brochure under the title ‘Rose Green Views’.
Teacher Kirsty McDonald was met with a very positive response when she
approached the local businesses to ask for their help. Armed with clip boards
and plenty of questions the children visited businesses around Rose Green
to find out more about them. The local business people commented that the
children conducted themselves well and were very interested in the local
community.
“The added incentive of Henry Adams involvement and trophies gave the project extra kudos and enthusiasm for the children in their learning,” added Kirsty.
The project concluded with a celebration assembly where parents could see the children's work and our very own Gail Chisham presented the well-deserved medals and trophies in each class, awarded for effort and reaching their potential rather than simply the 'best' three brochures in each class.
Commenting on the competition, Gail said: “The fun and enthusiasm from the children was fantastic. It was a pleasure to work with them and their teachers on this project and especially to see the outstanding quality of work they produced.”
Dee Tickner told the children they were all winners having put so much effort into their projects and producing such informative and entertaining brochures.
The village is clearly the place to be and the children were keen to ensure that their persuasive writing left readers in no doubt that by buying a property in Rose Green, you wouldn't be disappointed.
