Diary of an Estate Agent - South Coast Living
Simon Smith, partner & head of residential sales at our Chichester office, looks at the South Coast property market:
Most of us like to stay within reach of friends, families, work and schools when we move home according to research from conveyancers My Home Move. Their findings show that on average about 70% of people buy their next home within just 20 miles from their current home.
That doesn’t surprise me - our own research matches this almost exactly and it’s one of the reasons we prioritise local knowledge within our branches. We now have an extensive network of 14 offices, in West Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire with access to thousands of buyers at any given time.
Local knowledge comes out on top
Understanding local communities, where the great schools or sports facilities are, and of course a detailed understanding built up over many years about what’s happening with the local property markets - right down to individual hamlets and even specific roads.
What makes this a sought after destination
We’re lucky to be working in such a fabulous area which makes it easy to see why people would want to move here and why they like to stay.
The sailing community, the South Downs National Park, Chichester Festival Theatre, excellent shopping, Goodwood and the beaches are just a few of the main reasons we hear from our many potential buyers keen to live in the area.
With a wide range of property from new apartments to substantial waterfront houses, we have something to offer almost every buyer whether they’re new to the area or already enjoying south coast living.
For your selling advantage, we source the right buyers
Location is the number one factor when choosing a new home and I can’t think of a better setting than along this stretch of the coast. It’s clear that the 70% of home movers who stay within 20 miles from their existing home have the right idea but we always have enquiries from people looking to relocate from London and Surrey as well.
